The Jammu-Srinagar highway, a vital transportation route, faced a temporary setback due to adverse weather conditions. On Monday evening, fresh snowfall and icy roads caused disruptions in the Banihal-Ramsoo sector, necessitating the closure of the highway to ensure the safety of vehicles and passengers. However, this challenging situation was swiftly addressed, and the highway was partially restored for traffic on Wednesday, allowing light motor vehicles (LMVs) to traverse both sides of the route. This decision was made possible by the dedicated efforts of the authorities, who worked tirelessly to clear stranded vehicles and restore normal traffic flow. The DSP Traffic National Highway Banihal, S.P. Singh, assured commuters that traffic would resume its regular pattern once all vehicles were cleared from the affected area. He also emphasized the importance of adhering to official advisories for the safe and smooth movement of vehicles. This incident highlights the proactive measures taken by authorities to manage and mitigate potential hazards on major transportation routes, ensuring the well-being of travelers and the efficient operation of the highway network.
