The African Youth Research Challenge: Unlocking Africa's Climate Potential
Africa's youth are rising to the climate challenge, and this initiative is a game-changer!
The African Youth Research Challenge is a groundbreaking competition, empowering young African researchers to take the lead in shaping climate policies and actions across the continent. Led by the UNESCO Youth Climate Action Network (YoU-CAN) and supported by influential partners, this initiative aims to bridge the gap between research and policy, ensuring that Africa's youth have a powerful voice in the global climate conversation.
But here's where it gets controversial... How can we ensure that research translates into real-world impact? This challenge aims to answer that very question.
The Challenge invites young African scholars and professionals to delve into the impact of climate change in Africa and propose innovative, evidence-based solutions. By focusing on policy-oriented research, participants will develop actionable recommendations that can influence decision-making at both regional and continental levels.
And this is the part most people miss... It's not just about the research. It's about the journey of turning research into action.
From the initial research papers, 10 exceptional participants will be selected. These individuals will then embark on a transformative journey, reformulating their research into concise policy briefs and engaging directly with policymakers. They will contribute to science-based climate decision-making, amplifying youth perspectives and influencing climate strategies across Africa.
